Using the basic principles of Permaculture, we'll work together to create a community garden in Darby. This garden will provide nutrient-dense veggies and fruits to residents. The hands-on nature of this class enables students to apply these principles to maintain a healthy, low maintenance yet productive landscape. Winter is spent planning our garden and learning the basic principles of Permaculture, composting, and biointensive gardening techniques. Throughout the Spring we will start seeds, and prepare and plant our garden beds. June will see completion of our community garden- planting our summer crops, along with harvesting spring greens, radishes, baby carrots and early peas. All participants will be part of the team, and get to take home some seedlings for their own gardens.
Instructor: Lisa Lebeau is a certified Permaculture Designer and lifelong gardener and grower.
